Zverev Defeats Djokovic to Earn Biggest Title of Career

Alexander Zverev is one step closer to the player the whole world has been expecting him to be. In a 6-4, 6-3 defeat over world #1 Novak Djokovic, Zverev was rarely in trouble as he successfully employed a patiently aggressive strategy. By outlasting Djokovic in the longer rallies, and also committing to attacking the net when possible, Zverev won one of the biggest titles available on tour.

The victory further establishes him as the next player to take over after the “Golden Era” of Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, and Roger Federer. The victory also adds his name to the very short list of players to beat both Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic in the same tournament.

At 21 years old, Zverev turns this year into the best year of his career and will be one of the favorites in January going into the Australian Open.

  1. Big serve, big ground stroke, 6’6 and nimble, he has got all the tools to become the next world number 1 in the next year or two.
